TASHKENT (TCA) – Uzbekistan will receive new equipment to install cement mill for the production of grey and white cement in late 2013 early 2014.
The cement plant with a design capacity of 350,000 tons of white cement and 760,000 tons of Portland cement will be built in the Jizakh region, Trend reports.
In July 2012, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) and Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. signed a contract to build a cement plant in Uzbekistan worth US $114.2 million, Trend says. Implementation of the project with participation of Turkish companies was approved by a decree of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
The contract worth US $97.6 million was signed with the Turkish company to develop documentation of the
process, for the supply and installation supervision, turnkey construction and installation and commissioning work. In turn, AMMC will implement career improvement, construction of the production infrastructure and other work costing US $16.6 million.
The project is financed by a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan to
the sum of US $ 74.2 million and AMMC's equity of US $ 40 million. The Uzbek government has provided a number of customs and tax benefits to AMMC and Dal Teknik Makina within this project.
According to AMMC experts, commissioning the cement plant will fully cover the needs of the combine
in cement and direct up to 200,000 tons per year in the domestic market and export.
Technical support to the project will be provided by Uzstroymateriali AC which includes the company
producing building materials.
Uzbekistan has three cement plants with a total installed capacity of about seven million tons. The largest ones are Kyzylkumcement JSC - 3.15 million tons, Akhangarancement JSC - 1.74 million tons and Kuvasaycement JSC - 1.107 million tons
