BISHKEK, March 7 (TCA) — German group Bars is planned to shoot the snow leopards in mountains of Kyrgyzstan in order to reveal the number of the animals, KyrTAG quoted the Director of Central Asian program of German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU), Boris Tihomirov as saying at press conference.
“German specialists are planning to come to Kyrgyzstan this summer. They will set trail cameras in mountains of Kyrgyzstan for fixing and registering the exact number of snow leopards in the country,” Tihomirov said.
“According to preliminary data, there are about 250 snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan. During last 7-8 years, Bars group jointly with NABU increased the number of snow leopard by 50 animals,” he added.
