Russia deploys troops to Kazakhstan amid CSTO intervention to quell anti-government protests

NUR-SULTAN — The Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on January 6 said Russian paratroopers have been deployed to Kazakhstan at the request of the government of Kazakhstan to help “stabilize” the situation, amid unprecedented unrest sparked in part by a spike in fuel prices, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reported.
