BISHKEK, March 20 (TCA) — Last week, the Head of Kyrgyz Parliamentary Committee for International Affairs Kanybek Imanaliev had a number of meetings in the United States, AKIpress reported yesterday.
In particular, Imanaliev met the Head of Soros Fund Management George Soros on March 14. The sides discussed questions of interior public-political and social-economic situation in the country, development of parliamentarism and democracy institutions in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the source, Soros supported current democratic reforms in Kyrgyzstan, expressing the interest in development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Fund in spheres of democracy, social and education projects.
Next day, Imanaliev met with State Secretary’s Assistant for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake. In the course of meeting, the sides discussed measures to develop and strengthen parliamentary democracy implemented by Kyrgyzstan. Reportedly, the progress in fight against corruption was noticed as well.
Following the meeting with Blake, Kyrgyz MP also visited Front Office of Turkic-American Alliance, where he met its President Faruk Taban.
The sides discussed opportunities of cooperation development between Kyrgyzstan and the Alliance. Kyrgyz MP suggested to hold Kyrgyz-American Forum of Parliamentarians and Business Communities based on the model of Turkic-American Conference.
