ASHGABAT, December 22 (Turkmenistan.gov.tm) -- President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov accepted the congratulations on the national holiday, the Neutrality Day. The Vice Premiers, the heads of Mejlis and military and law enforcement agencies cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader on the remarkable date.

Expressing the wishes of good health, long life inexhaustible vigour and new outstanding achievements in his versatile important activity to the Turkmen leader, the meeting participants underscored the immense importance and large scale of the constructive policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan to promote the rapid progress of the country and enhance its international prestige.

Thanking for the kind words, the President warmly congratulated his associates and all citizens of Turkmenistan on the national holiday emphasizing that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution pursuant to which our country was declared the first ever internationally recognized neutral state during the 50th anniversary session sixteen years ago on December 12, 1995. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said this event evidenced that the international community highly evaluated the policy of independent Turkmenistan based on the principles of peace, humanism and openness that the Turkmen people abided by from ancient times.

Turkmenistan, whose people are widely and solemnly celebrating with the sense of pride and enthusiasm the 16th anniversary of state neutrality, along with the age-old wise traditions and spiritual values demonstrates the constructive foreign policy strategy aimed at building up fruitful international relations and promoting the common wellbeing and progress, continued the President. In the epoch of great reforms at the present stage the status of permanent neutrality is the priority strategy not only to effectively implement the social and economic reforms, but also strengthen global peace and security and promote mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries of the world and the authoritative international organisations.

Our fundamentally new approach to the strategy of national development and international cooperation, our constructive initiatives aimed at enhancing international cooperation for global peace and sustainable development, the ongoing ambitious reforms in the country arouse the interest of the global community in Turkmenistan, said the Turkmen leader stressing that neutrality had allowed Turkmenistan to gain the high status of the peacekeeping centre of the planet in the third millennium in world politics.

Vivid evidence for this is positive relations established with the UN, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and other authoritative international organisations over the past 16 years, the projects aimed at achieving the millennium development goals, the opening of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the initiatives we have put forward to ensure regional and global security for sustainable development of countries of the world and supported by the international community.

We will always steadily and consistently pursue the policy of positive neutrality based on good neighbourliness, mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial partnership with all countries of the world. The continuity and triumph of valuable humanistic traditions is an immutable guideline for our people who revered the ideas of peace, mutual understanding and friendship, said the leader of the nation.

Congratulating once again those present on the national holiday, which is filled with a new content and meaning nowadays, the President wished them good health, happiness and success in their activity for the benefit of the beloved Motherland that moved forward with confidence along the path of peace, constructive endeavours and progress.
