Kyrgyz capital to host meeting on terrorist acts

BISHKEK, February 27 (TCA) — Roundtable meeting on the Terrorist Bombings Convention will be started in Bishkek tomorrow and run until March 1, Kabar reported.
The roundtable is organized by OSCE Transnational Threats Department together with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
According to the source, the meeting will bring local and international experts from relevant agencies, industry and businesses to discuss ways to hinder criminals and terrorists’ access to explosive substances, ammonium nitrate fertilizers and chemicals.
The event is aimed to identify good practices and recommendations to inform legislative and regulatory initiatives in Kyrgyzstan to enhance the implementation of the Convention on the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings, signed in 1997.
In the course of the meeting, parties are also expected to review the status of ratification of the Universal Antiterrorism Instruments by Kyrgyzstan.
