BISHKEK, Jan 26 (Central Asia Online). Kazakhstan’s U-21 men’s football team January 25 lost to Belarus 3-2 in the Commonwealth Cup quarter-final. Baurzhan Dzholchiyev and Yevgeny Goriachii scored for Kazakhstan.
Three other Central Asian U-21 teams January 24 had varied fates in consolation matches. Tajikistan tied Estonia 1-1, with Shodibek Gaforov scoring for Tajikistan.
Kyrgyzstan beat Turkmenistan 3-1. Tursunali Rustamov scored all three Kyrgyz goals, while Mekan Saparov scored for Turkmenistan.
The Tajiks, Kyrgyz and Turkmens are playing for 9th through 12th places in the tournament and resume play January 26. Kazakhstan was the only Central Asian team to reach the quarter-finals.
