BISHKEK, June 4 (CentralAsiaOnline) - Kyrgyzstan now has a draft national security plan, President Almazbek Atambayev said at a June 1 session of the Defense Council, which reviewed the draft.
A difficult security situation is forming in both Kyrgyzstan and the region, he said, adding that the country needed a blueprint to define how it will combat internal and external threats.
“The draft plan defines the circle of Kyrgyzstan’s national interests and co-operation with them,” he said. “Kyrgyzstan strives for a strategic partnership with Russia and with other neighbors.”
Government agencies from national to local level all need to work out detailed plans of measures based on the document, he said.
